In order to enjoy life, we should not enjoy it too much.
~ Vladimir Nabokov

~ hey my friend, we talked a lot whether we are being too lazy, too relaxed here.
i dont know. but, what do we really need - NOT too much enjoyment, for sure.

mini sunday morning

In the book of On Longing, Narratives of the Miniature, the Gigantic, the Souvenir, the Collection
in the chapter The Miniature, Susan Stewart wrote

“The reduction in scale of everyday lifeworld,
and as an object consumed, the miniature finds its “use value” transformed into the infinite time of reverie.”

a drawing (L part) to L&M in Headlands -- this drawing is my favourite one among the whole series.

life in new york city is not clam --
mind swings
steps move towards the center

not a pumpkin

God is God

i have to call myself "Mrs.Last-mintue"

but it is worth to postpone things to be done in the mid-night.

since i had to spend the night to attend Joan Baez's concert. thanks N asked me to go...

this song i love,

God is God
I believe in prophecy.

Some folks see things not everybody can see.
And,once in a while, they pass the secret along to you and me.
And I believe in miracles.
Something sacred burning in every bush and tree

We can all learn to sing the songs the angels sing

Yeah, I believe in God, and God ain’t me

I’ve traveled around the world,
Stood on mighty mountains and gazed across the wilderness.

Never seen a line in the sand or a diamond in the dust.
And as our fate unfurls,
Every day that passes I’m sure about a little bit less
Even my money keeps telling me it’s God I need to trust

And I believe in God, but God ain’t us.

God,in my little understanding, don’t care what name I call
Whether or not I believe doesn’t matter at all
I receive the blessings.

That every day on Earth’s another chance to get it right.
Let this little light of mine shine and rage against the night.
Just another lesson
Maybe someone’s watching and wondering what I got.

Maybe this is why I’m here on Earth, and maybe not

But I believe in God, and God is God

the fact is creepy

...a drawing given to J in response to her zombie video-- having me as one of the zombie

maybe, i am not going to have myself costumed in the coming Halloween Parade
as the reality here in The States is already more creepy and scary than anything

sunday morning's confess -- for not making a good list of what i am going to do and what i did

a work for a hk photography exhibition
--- about searching for swimming pools in HK through Google satellite map
statement / finalized image --- still under construction ---i am behind....sorry...

remember that in a party in SF
people talked about 'make a working/appointment/dating list' for the coming schedule
a writer couldnt believe when i said i never made any list
but it was true. i never made a list

now in NYC, i change
i need to make list for what i have to do
although i am always behind schedule

and also, i tried to list out everyweek's 'experienced' 'done' activities
so i had "1st week" "2nd week" listings in this blog
(well, also, i never wrote any kinds of diary)
but come to these weeks
i gave up making records by the weeks' listing
as it is anyway a hard task for me
as my memory system is not a linear one
my friend once said, 'so u are having a cubism mind of recording things'

are u looking at me by your hands?

Annette Messager, mes voeux, at MOMA

such an enjoyable night with N at Le Poisson Rouge

a new yorker - Johnny's recommendation : Le Poisson Rouge is a new establishment in nyc. it's popular because of its eclectic programs, jazz, classical (including opera!) etc. and cabaret style.

that's really true

it is glamorous - also because the venue have the visual artworks exhibited.
now showing "Through the Looking Glass: Image and Process Deconstructed" -- works by Chuck Close and Devorah Sperber, inspired by the artist process, repetitive form and reductive structure of Philip Glass' music.
