Dear Colleagues and Students,

It is with deep regret and sorrow for us to report the death of Mr. Jerry Kwan 關晃, an internationally renowned artist as well as a former part-time lecturer of our School, who passed away at his studio in the middle of May.

Jerry devoted a substantial period of time and, no doubt, all his enthusiasm in his life to art, especially painting. He joined us as a painting lecturer during the early days when the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) program, which is a program being run by the School in collaboration with the RMIT University, was first launched in the late 1990s. His sophisticated knowledge, experience, and professionalism in art have kindled countless hearts and souls of our students since then. Jerry retired in recent years, in his retirement, he was nevertheless still in close connection with his students, and he managed to contribute even more time and effort towards his artistic pursuit, exploration and refinement.

In memorial of Jerry, an exhibition is being coordinated by the Hong Kong Visual Arts Society. Hong Kong Arts Centre is honored to be able to help in providing venue support to this exhibition as well as the memorial service thereby associated. It has been confirmed that the exhibition will be held from 30th June to 3rd July 2008 at the 4/F of the Pao Galleries at the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Details in this regard are as follows:

Words simply cannot explain the heartfelt loss of Jerry's passing. We hope to extend our sympathies and condolences to his family, his friends and his students. And, wholeheartedly, may he rest in eternal peace.
